Saudi Arabia Attends the GCC Municipal Affairs Committee Meeting


- The 27th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council's committee of ministers responsible for municipal affairs took place in Doha, Qatar on May 31, 2024.

At the 27th meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council's (GCC) committee of ministers responsible for municipal affairs, which took place on Thursday in Doha, Majed Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, headed the Saudi delegation. The meeting was held in Doha. During the gathering that took place in Qatar's capital, the focus was on a variety of issues that are prevalent in the field of municipal affairs. Al-Hogail praised Saudi Arabia's joy in hosting the 12th annual Gulf Municipal Work Conference, which will take place in Riyadh from October 6 to 8. The conference will center on "sustainable municipal work." During this significant conference, he emphasized the importance of the active participation of organizations and institutions from the business sector from all of the GCC nations in order to improve cooperation and the sharing of expertise.


The suggested executive plan for activities linked to the urban environment committee in the 024-2030 municipal action plan was the primary topic of discussion during today's meeting. Within the framework of the municipal action plan, the participants deliberated on the latest advancements in the executive plan, specifically in relation to the actions of the local legislation and control mechanisms committee. The panel also reviewed a number of other topics, such as the approval of procedures for withdrawing and seizing abandoned and damaged vehicles, the establishment of requirements for public health control firms operating in GCC nations, and the establishment of rules for the regulation of food carts and social housing.


The committee exhorted the countries that are members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) as well as the Secretariat General to take an active part in international forums and highlight the achievements of collective efforts made by Gulf municipalities. It stressed the ongoing importance for nations that are members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to sign memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with international organizations that are professionals in the field of municipal affairs and to exchange experts and specialists in the field of municipal affairs.
