
Riyadh, March 30, 2025 – Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley stated that Saudi Arabia celebrated Saudi Green Initiative Day by highlighting the country's environmental accomplishments.
Alfadley, who leads the initiative’s ministerial committee, reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's dedication to environmental protection and enhancing the quality of life, in line with Vision 2030 and the Saudi Green Initiative's objectives, which include rehabilitating 40 million hectares of land, safeguarding 30% of the Kingdom's land and sea areas, and cutting carbon emissions by 287 million tons annually.
In a statement marking the anniversary of the initiative’s launch on March 27, Alfadley emphasized the Kingdom’s progress and its commitment to global sustainability efforts. National actions have expanded protected land areas to 18.1% and protected marine areas to 6.49%, reflecting a focus on conserving natural resources and biodiversity.
Alfadley also noted that environmental initiatives have improved quality of life, citing a 63% decrease in dust storms between 2020 and 2024.
He concluded by recognizing the collaborative efforts from various sectors and underscored the importance of ongoing community support to achieve a greener, more sustainable future.
