Riyadh, January 23, 2024, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), has significantly improved its standing in the World Bank's Statistical Performance Index (SPI), climbing 25 places. Ranking first in the Gulf, it advanced four positions within the G20 countries, securing the 15th spot, a notable rise from its 2019 position at 19th.

The World Bank's assessment, covering 186 countries, evaluates statistical systems across five main dimensions and over 52 indices, encompassing data sources, statistical products, services, and infrastructure.

Saudi Arabia excelled in the data use dimension, achieving a perfect score of 100% and an overall assessment score of 80.8%, a substantial increase from the 2019 score of 63.4%. The Kingdom demonstrated the highest progress among G20 nations, boasting a remarkable progress rate of 17.4%.

Dr. Fahad Aldossari, President of GASTAT, attributed this achievement to the support from the leadership, leading to strategic transformations in statistical production and technical infrastructure. He emphasized the positive impact on GASTAT's statistical role, surpassing many international statistical agencies. This progress contributed to the development and calculation of high-quality indices and statistical data recognized by global organizations in the statistical field.

This accomplishment underscores the leadership's confidence in GASTAT's national role, providing statistical data and measuring indices supporting sustainable development plans, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life in Saudi Arabia.
