Riyadh, February 04, 2024, Saudi Arabia marked a significant achievement by becoming one of the pioneer nations to finalize the construction of its pavilion for Expo 2025 in Osaka. The event, held at Expo 2025 Osaka's official exhibition site on Yumeshima Island, was attended by Eng. Othman Al-Muzaiad and the Saudi Pavilion delegation. Firas Al-Turki, the Chief Construction Officer overseeing the pavilion's development, also participated in the celebration.
Designed to serve as a visual narrative of heritage, traditions, and values, the Saudi pavilion is a manifestation of the country's identity and its profound historical role as a cradle for ancient civilizations spanning millennia. Beyond this cultural representation, the pavilion underscores the ongoing transformation aligned with Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030, which seeks to achieve economic and social objectives while unlocking future capabilities. The construction of the pavilion is a testament to the Kingdom's commitment to the environment, emphasizing sustainability and a vision for a better future.
The design of the Saudi pavilion draws inspiration from traditional urban formations, offering a visual journey through Saudi Arabia's rich history, culture, and heritage. Notably, the design is not only distinctive but also sustainable, showcasing the Kingdom's dedication to a collective future by incorporating cutting-edge sustainability technologies. These features include the utilization of renewable materials and a reconfigurable structure to minimize environmental impact. The Saudi Pavilion has achieved zero operational emissions by adhering to Japan's highest level of urban environmental efficiency standards. This accomplishment is attributed to the use of low-carbon materials, energy-saving technology, rainwater recycling, and solar power. Additionally, the design allows for easy dismantling and reassembly in the future.
Following the Saudi Cultural Dinner in Osaka, a celebratory event took place, attended by government delegations from Saudi Arabia and Japan, along with officials from other participating countries in Expo 2025 in Osaka. This milestone not only highlights the Kingdom's cultural and environmental commitment but also reinforces its active participation and engagement on the global stage.
