Amman, November 16, 2024 – In a continued demonstration of its unwavering support for the Palestinian people, Saudi Arabia delivered its third installment of financial aid to Palestine on Thursday, amounting to $10 million. This brings the total aid provided by the Kingdom in 2024 to $30 million, further underscoring Saudi Arabia’s longstanding commitment to the Palestinian cause and its efforts to alleviate the financial challenges faced by the Palestinian government.
The aid was presented by Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to Jordan and non-resident Ambassador to Palestine, Nayef bin Bandar Al-Sudairi, to Palestinian Finance Minister Omar Bitar in Amman. During the meeting, Minister Bitar expressed profound gratitude to the Saudi leadership for their ongoing support and solidarity with Palestine. He conveyed the sincere thanks of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa, who remain deeply appreciative of Saudi Arabia's consistent backing in their pursuit of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
Minister Bitar also highlighted the critical role the aid plays in addressing the severe financial crisis Palestine has been grappling with, exacerbated by recent Israeli policies. He emphasized that the financial assistance is essential for sustaining the Palestinian government’s operations and alleviating the socio-economic challenges faced by its citizens.
Ambassador Al-Sudairi reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's steadfast commitment to supporting the Palestinian cause, stating that the Kingdom has provided approximately $5.3 billion in aid over the years. This historic financial support is part of Saudi Arabia's broader efforts to assist Palestine in its journey towards self-determination and independence, reflecting the Kingdom’s active role in advocating for Palestinian rights on the global stage.
The $30 million in aid for 2024 continues a long-standing tradition of Saudi financial and diplomatic support for Palestine. As the Palestinian people face ongoing challenges, Saudi Arabia remains a key partner in their quest for a future of peace, stability, and independence.
