Riyadh, April 18, 2024, Saudi Arabia added to the excitement of the Tokyo Marathon 2024, a prestigious sporting event held in Japan last March. The Kingdom's enthusiastic involvement highlighted the robust partnership between relevant Saudi and Japanese sports organizations. Notably, the renowned Tokyo Marathon welcomed Saudi Arabian runner Abdulrahman Sabbagh, offering him the opportunity to compete in Asia’s sole race among the six Abbott World Marathon Majors.
Saudi Arabia's participation in the marathon followed a productive visit by members of the Saudi Sports for All Federation to Japan. During their visit, they engaged in fruitful discussions with various sports organizations, including esteemed institutions such as the Japan Sport Association, the Tokyo Marathon Foundation, and the ASICS Institute of Sport Science.
This significant participation by Saudi Arabia underscores the deep-seated partnership between the two sides, a pivotal component of the ambitious Saudi-Japan Vision 2030 project. ASICS, in particular, has served as a strategic partner for numerous Sports for All Federation events and played a leading role as the primary sponsor for two remarkable sporting occasions, including the thrilling Riyadh Marathon.
