Riyadh, March 1, 2025 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia issued a strong statement today, reaffirming the Kingdom's unwavering stance against any unlawful actions or measures that threaten the unity and stability of the Republic of Sudan. In the wake of recent calls for the formation of a parallel government outside Sudan's official institutions, the Ministry emphasized that such actions do not reflect the will of the Sudanese people and could only further exacerbate the country’s challenges.
The Ministry reiterated Saudi Arabia's firm commitment to supporting Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the security and stability of the nation. It expressed deep concern over attempts to destabilize the country through divisive actions, underlining that these efforts undermine the legitimate aspirations of the Sudanese people for peace and prosperity.
In its statement, the Kingdom called on all Sudanese parties to prioritize the national interest above factional or political divisions. It urged the various stakeholders to work collaboratively towards preventing the further disintegration of the country and to focus on the collective good of the Sudanese people. Saudi Arabia highlighted the critical need for unity and reconciliation, stressing that the dangers of division and chaos must be avoided at all costs.
Furthermore, Saudi Arabia reiterated its ongoing efforts to support Sudan in its pursuit of peace. The Kingdom reaffirmed its commitment to the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11, 2023, which outlines the principles and steps for ending the ongoing conflict in Sudan. Saudi Arabia has played a crucial role in facilitating dialogue and peace negotiations between Sudanese factions, and continues to actively support diplomatic efforts to bring about an end to the war.
