Riyadh, November 2, 2024 — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has expressed profound concern regarding the ongoing conflict in Sudan, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to peace and the protection of civilians in the region. The escalating violence, particularly the alarming increase in civilian casualties—including among women and children—has raised international and humanitarian alarm. The recent tragic events in eastern Al-Jazirah State have resulted in further loss of civilian lives and numerous injuries, marking a grievous violation of international law and the principles that protect non-combatants.

In response to these incidents, Saudi Arabia strongly condemns the recent acts of aggression and reiterates the necessity of upholding the provisions outlined in the Jeddah Declaration, signed on May 11, 2023. The Kingdom urges all parties involved in the Sudanese conflict to honor their commitments, cease hostilities, and facilitate unobstructed humanitarian access to areas impacted by the violence. These steps, Saudi Arabia believes, are essential to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the prolonged fighting.

Saudi Arabia reaffirms its enduring commitment to Sudan's stability and the preservation of its sovereign institutions. The Ministry’s statement emphasizes that safeguarding Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and independence remains a priority and that the Kingdom will continue to support initiatives aimed at fortifying Sudan’s legitimate institutions. Saudi Arabia further asserts that a sustainable political solution is the only viable path to ending the crisis, calling upon Sudanese leaders to prioritize dialogue and peace over conflict.

This renewed call for peace reflects Saudi Arabia's dedication to fostering stability within the broader region and supporting Sudan in overcoming the challenges it currently faces.
