To make it easier for pilgrims leaving Bangladesh for the Hajj, the General Directorate of Passports at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, has taken action.
To ensure a smooth and effective departure process, the airport has invested in state-of-the-art equipment and engaged highly qualified, multilingual staff to assist pilgrims.
The simplified approach goes beyond Dhaka; pilgrims can finish their entry procedures to the Kingdom at special counters at their home airports, obviating the need for additional processing when they arrive in Saudi Arabia. This project is supported by the Ministry of Interior as a component of the Saudi Vision 2030 Pilgrim Experience Program.
As of May 24, 2024, in Dhaka, Bangladesh, the General Directorate of Passports has made the required preparations in an attempt to speed up the Hajj departure process for pilgrims from Bangladesh who are leaving from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. To help pilgrims, the airport has highly skilled staff members who understand several languages. The directorate has also invested in state-of-the-art technologies to provide a smooth and efficient departure process.
Besides Dhaka, the simplified approach covers a vast territory. Therefore, pilgrims are no longer subjected to additional processing at the point of arrival in Saudi Arabia because the pilgrims can now complete their entry processes into the Kingdom at counters specially designed for them at their home airports.
Among these projects is the Makkah Route Initiative. The Ministry of Interior supports the Makkah Route Initiative. For the last six years, the program—which is a part of the Saudi Vision 2030 Pilgrim Experience Program—has successfully collaborated with pertinent government organizations.
