Abu Dhabi, October 10, 2023, The International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress 2023, themed "Enriching Knowledge Societies," witnessed the prominent presence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, led by the National Center for Archives and Records (NCAR). The prestigious event took place in Abu Dhabi from October 9 to 13, and the Saudi delegation, headed by NCAR Director General Dr. Faisal Abdulaziz Al-Tamimi, marked a historic milestone with its extensive participation.
Dr. Al-Tamimi highlighted the significance of this occasion, as it represented the largest Saudi delegation to ever grace an ICA congress. The delegation's contributions were not only impressive in numbers but also diverse in content, as it showcased six scientific papers originating from several esteemed government entities. These included NCAR, the National Cybersecurity Authority, the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, as well as researchers from King Abdulaziz University and Taif University.
Furthermore, the enthusiasm for knowledge sharing and advancement extended beyond NCAR, with over 20 government institutions from the Kingdom actively participating in the congress sessions. Their presence was driven by the desire to glean insights from the valuable scientific papers presented and to align with the global best practices in archiving.
Dr. Al-Tamimi emphasized the Kingdom's active role in the congress's associated exhibition. In conjunction with NCAR, the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives, and the King Abdulaziz Public Library, the Saudi pavilions created a dynamic display of scientific publications within the archives domain. The exhibition also featured a range of interactive activities.
