RIYADH, March 29, 2025: As Ramadan comes to an end, preparations for Eid Al-Fitr celebrations and the week-long holiday are in full swing across Saudi Arabia.
Mosques throughout the Kingdom are getting ready for Eid prayers, while shopping centers are bustling with families purchasing clothing, sweets, and gifts for the occasion.
With Eid approaching, families are making final arrangements for the festivities.
“We are just days away from Eid Al-Fitr, a week-long celebration marking the end of Ramadan, and preparations have already begun,” said Abdulaziz Ali Saleh, a shopper at Dheera Market in Riyadh.
He noted that an essential part of Eid shopping is selecting outfits, including thobes and dresses, for family gatherings.
“New clothes are a major tradition on Eid Al-Fitr, so we visit stores, pick out the finest fabrics, and have our outfits ready for the special day. We also buy sweets and chocolates for the children,” said Rumana Shahid, a homemaker in Riyadh.
She emphasized that Eid is a time for reconnecting, celebrating with family and friends, and strengthening bonds.
As shopping malls fill with eager customers, Riyadh resident Manal Al-Harbi remarked, “People, along with their families and children, are flocking to shopping centers to buy garments, chocolates, and gifts for loved ones in anticipation of the most joyous occasion in the Islamic calendar.”
“I visited some malls last night and today, and they were packed with shoppers making last-minute purchases. You can feel the Eid spirit everywhere at night, with streets adorned in colorful lights and a vibrant atmosphere,” she added.
Meanwhile, official preparations are underway to ensure places of worship are ready for the holiday.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance has undertaken extensive cleaning and sterilization of mosques and open prayer areas to maintain a hygienic environment.
Additionally, electrical systems, air-conditioning units, and audio equipment have been inspected and maintained to ensure a smooth prayer experience.
The ministry’s branch in Madinah has completed preparations for Eid prayers, equipping 925 mosques and prayer halls across the region.
Field inspections and maintenance have been conducted to accommodate the large number of worshippers.
The Eid prayer will take place 15 minutes after sunrise, as per the Umm Al-Qura calendar.
