Riyadh, January 22, 2025 – The Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission is poised to lead Saudi Arabia's participation in the 56th Cairo International Book Fair, organized by the Egyptian General Book Organization, which will run from January 23 to February 5, 2025. This prestigious cultural event, one of the largest and most influential book fairs in the Arab world, provides an exceptional platform for showcasing literary and cultural works from across the globe. Saudi Arabia's involvement underscores the Kingdom's strong commitment to strengthening its presence in both regional and international cultural and literary spheres.

Abdullatif Alwasel, the Chief Executive Officer of the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission, emphasized that Saudi Arabia’s participation in the Cairo International Book Fair is an important step in its ongoing efforts to elevate its cultural standing worldwide. Through this initiative, Saudi Arabia seeks to raise awareness of its rich cultural heritage and showcase the significant strides it has made in the fields of literature, publishing, and translation. Alwasel noted that the Kingdom's growing contributions to global cultural movements are reflected in its increasing role as an influential player in the global literary scene.

Saudi Arabia’s delegation at the book fair will include 11 government entities, with the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission taking the lead in coordinating the country’s efforts. This collective participation will not only promote Saudi authors and publishers but also highlight the Kingdom's burgeoning creative industries, demonstrating the dynamic cultural transformation occurring in Saudi Arabia as part of its Vision 2030 goals. By engaging with a global audience, the Kingdom aims to forge new collaborations, foster cultural exchanges, and amplify the voices of Saudi writers and intellectuals, further solidifying its position as a hub of culture, creativity, and innovation in the Arab world and beyond.

The 56th Cairo International Book Fair will serve as an invaluable opportunity for Saudi Arabia to build stronger ties with other cultural and literary communities, share its unique narrative with a broader international audience, and contribute to the development of a more interconnected and diverse global cultural landscape.
