Doha, November 01, 2023, During the annual ceremony of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) in Doha, FIFA officially declared that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia stands as the sole country to submit a bid for hosting the 2034 World Cup.
This significant announcement was made in the presence of AFC president Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and Yasser Al-Misehal, the president of the Saudi Football Federation. FIFA revealed that following the approved regulations by the FIFA Council, they will initiate the nomination process for both the 2030 and 2034 World Cup editions. An evaluation process for the nomination submissions will ensue, with the official host countries expected to be unveiled during the FIFA conference scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024.
