RIYADH, April 4, 2025 – Saudi Arabia led the Arab condemnation of Israeli airstrikes that violated the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, resulting in numerous civilian and military casualties.

The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Israeli attacks were attempts to destabilize Syria and the region by violating international laws.

The Kingdom called on the UN Security Council’s permanent members to take strong action against ongoing Israeli violations in Syria and the region, urging the activation of accountability measures.

Israeli airstrikes targeted five locations in Syria, including Damascus and Hama Airport, overnight. Several people were injured, and a ground incursion led to 13 fatalities.

Since the fall of the Bashar Assad regime in December, Israel has taken control of parts of southern Syria to keep the forces of the new government away from the border.

On Thursday, Egypt condemned the Israeli raids as a new and blatant violation of international law, urging the international community to pressure Israel to end its occupation of Syrian land and respect the 1974 Disengagement Agreement.

Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates reiterated its support for Syria’s security, stability, and sovereignty, emphasizing the need for Israel to comply with international law and UN resolutions calling for respect for state sovereignty and non-interference in internal matters.
