Riyadh, February 05, 2024, In January 2024, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia achieved a remarkable milestone, experiencing the highest decrease in the number of dust and sand storms in 21 years. This notable reduction, amounting to a remarkable -94%, is attributed to the concerted efforts of the environmental system within the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, as well as the transformative initiatives outlined in the Kingdom's Vision 2030.
According to a recent report from the Sand and Dust Storm Warning Regional Center, significant improvements were observed across various regions of the Kingdom. For instance, Riyadh witnessed a complete cessation of dust and sand storm occurrences, marking a notable decrease of 100%. Similarly, Dammam recorded an unprecedented reduction of -100% in the same period. Additionally, Wadi Al-Dawasir Province saw a substantial decrease of -81%, while Al-Ahsa Province experienced a significant reduction of -83%.
These remarkable achievements underscore the effectiveness of Vision 2030's comprehensive approach to addressing climate change, promoting sustainability, enhancing the climate file, and elevating the overall quality of life for Saudi citizens.
