Saudi Arabia Participates in 3rd GCC Cybersecurity Ministerial Committee Meeting

Key initiatives discussed included joint cyber exercises to improve cyber readiness and the sharing of best practices, highlighting the GCC's commitment to strengthening its cybersecurity framework.
A Saudi delegation, led by NCA Governor Eng. Majid Al-Mazyad, attended the third GCC Cybersecurity Ministerial Committee meeting in Doha, where heads of cybersecurity authorities discussed regional collaboration.

Riyadh, November 4, 2024 — A high-level delegation from the Saudi National Cybersecurity Authority (NCA), led by NCA Governor Eng. Majid Al-Mazyad, participated today in the third meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Cybersecurity Ministerial Committee held in Doha, Qatar. This pivotal gathering brought together the heads of cybersecurity authorities from across GCC member states, along with GCC Secretary-General Jassim Albudaiwi.


During the meeting, the Ministerial Committee adopted a comprehensive Gulf strategy for cybersecurity, underscoring the region’s commitment to enhancing its cybersecurity infrastructure and response capabilities. A key highlight was the approval of the launch of the “Cyber Threat Information Sharing Platform,” an ambitious initiative aimed at fostering real-time collaboration and information exchange among GCC countries. This project, spearheaded by the Saudi Information Technology Company in partnership with the Global Cybersecurity Forum Institute, seeks to establish a robust network for sharing critical cybersecurity intelligence.


The discussions encompassed a variety of initiatives proposed by member states, all focused on strengthening cooperation in cybersecurity across the Gulf region. Among the initiatives discussed were the organization of joint cyber exercises aimed at enhancing the collective cyber readiness of GCC member states and facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices in cybersecurity operations.


Eng. Al-Mazyad emphasized the importance of regional collaboration in addressing the increasingly sophisticated landscape of cyber threats. He stated, "Strengthening our cybersecurity posture is a shared responsibility among GCC nations. By working together, we can enhance our resilience against cyber attacks and protect our critical infrastructure."


The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to ongoing cooperation and the establishment of additional frameworks designed to bolster the region’s cybersecurity capabilities, reflecting the GCC’s proactive approach in safeguarding national interests in an interconnected world.
