Saudi Arabia participates in UN FAO conference, NERC37, in Amman, Jordan

Amman, March 05, 2024, Saudi Arabia actively engaged in the ministerial segment of the 37th session of the Near East Regional Conference (NERC37) organized by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Amman, Jordan. The NERC37 ministerial session, which commenced on Monday, centered on expediting the transformation of regional agrifood systems to achieve sustainable agriculture and food security in the face of numerous challenges confronting the region.

Heading the Kingdom's delegation at the session was Eng. Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Al-Fadley, the Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture. The primary objective of this session is to establish a comprehensive framework for a regional agreement that encourages collective action. This collective effort aims to guide the development of specific, sustainable, and targeted agrifood systems, ultimately ensuring food security for millions of people in the Near East region. The conference seeks to address the pressing need for a coordinated approach to tackle the complex crises impacting the region's agricultural and food sectors.
