Saudi Arabia presides over 110th ASBU Executive Council meeting in Tunis

Tunis, January 15, 2024, The 110th meeting of the Executive Council of the Arab States Broadcasting Union (ASBU) convened yesterday evening in Tunis, presided over by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by ASBU President Mohammed bin Fahd Al-Harithi, who also serves as the CEO of the Saudi Broadcast Authority (SBA). Eng. Abdulrahim Suleiman, ASBU's Director General, was also present, alongside heads of Arab bodies, council members, and delegation leaders.

Addressing the assembly, Al-Harithi highlighted significant advancements and positive momentum across all facets of ASBU's activities during the preceding period. He emphasized the forthcoming Arab Media Conference, set to enter its third session in a few days, as a noteworthy initiative. Al-Harithi commended the choice of "Media in the Era of Artificial Intelligence" as a central theme for discussion at the conference, recognizing it as a pivotal and current area of interest transcending the field of media to impact various domains. He praised the conference program's richness and the high-caliber experts scheduled to participate.

A presentation during the meeting provided an overview of ASBU's activities over the past year. This encompassed areas such as news and program exchange, coverage of major events within and outside the Arab region, as well as efforts in training and investment. The meeting served as a platform for comprehensive discussions and strategic considerations to further enhance the role of ASBU in promoting collaboration and excellence in the realm of Arab broadcasting.
