Saudi Arabia Ranks 2nd among G20 Countries in UN Telecommunication Index

On September 20, 2024, Saudi Arabia achieved a significant milestone by securing the second position among the Group of Twenty (G20) countries in the United Nations Telecommunication Infrastructure Index (TII). This achievement highlights the Kingdom's substantial progress in digital infrastructure and the effectiveness of government initiatives aimed at enhancing e-government services.

The TII is a comprehensive metric that assesses the global development of telecommunications infrastructure and is a crucial element of the E-Government Development Index (EGDI). The EGDI measures the overall effectiveness of countries' e-government initiatives, emphasizing the importance of robust communication systems necessary for successful implementation.

Strong telecommunications infrastructure is essential for economic growth, as it attracts foreign investments and promotes innovation. Furthermore, advancements in this sector positively impact education and healthcare, foster social development, improve quality of life, and support sustainable development efforts within the Kingdom.
