Saudi Arabia's Master Plan for Logistics Centers focuses on infrastructure development

Jeddah, August 27, 2023, The Master Plan for Logistics Centers was introduced by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Transport and Logistics. Its objectives are to develop the Kingdom's logistical sector's infrastructure, diversify the local economy, and improve the status of Saudi Arabia as a top investment location and a major global logistical hub. The plan, according to HRH the Crown Prince, is one of several ongoing initiatives that the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) set as goals in order to develop the logistical sector to support the economy, increase local, regional, and international connections of the global supply chains and trade networks, strengthen partnerships with the private sector, and thereby increase the opportunity to create jobs and make the Kingdom stronger. With a total size of more than 100 million square meters, the Master Plan for Logistics Centers calls for 59 centers, including 12 in the Riyadh Region, 12 in the Makkah Region, 17 in the Eastern Region, and 18 scattered throughout the remainder of the Kingdom. There are 21 centers being worked on right now. By 2030, all centers will be finished. The centers will also support e-commerce by enabling a quick connection between logistics centers and distribution centers in the Kingdom's various regions, cities, and governorates. They will also provide high traceability and ease the issuance of licenses to engage in logistic activity, especially after the launch of the unified logistics license and the licensing of more than 1,500 local, regional, and international companies. One of the prospective foundations of the Kingdom's economic diversification and growth is the logistics services sector. Numerous significant initiatives and advancements are currently taking place with the goal of growing the industry and increasing its economic and developmental benefits. The Ministry of Transport and Logistics works to advance export strategy, increase investment opportunities, grow the logistics industry, and form alliances with the private sector.
