Riyadh, February 18, 2024, In the 2023 World Economic Forum (WEF) report, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has demonstrated remarkable progress in the Road Quality Index (RQI), achieving a noteworthy score of 5.7. This achievement positions the Kingdom fourth among the G20 nations.
The RQI serves as a crucial metric for assessing the quality of road networks, thereby playing a vital role in ensuring user safety and efficiency. Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, attributed this success to the steadfast support from the leadership and the concerted efforts aimed at upholding the Kingdom's global leadership in road network connectivity. These efforts also seek to enhance road quality, operational efficiency, safety measures, and align with the ambitious objectives outlined in Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 national transport and logistics services strategy.
Acting CEO of the Roads General Authority (RGA), Badr bin Abdullah Aldulami, underscored the significant progress witnessed in the road sector throughout 2023, which contributed significantly to this notable achievement.
The RGA emphasized that the WEF report reflects a substantial advancement in the Kingdom's RQI, with the index rising from 5.2 to 5.7. This growth rate surpasses 10%, marking the highest among G20 countries and highlighting Saudi Arabia's commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in its road infrastructure.
