Riyadh, September 21, 2024—Since the unification of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the road network has transformed dramatically, establishing itself as a global benchmark for connectivity. This commitment to road development began during the reign of King Abdulaziz, who recognized the essential role of transportation in linking communities and driving economic growth. Successive administrations have made substantial investments in expanding and modernizing the road infrastructure. Initially estimated at about 239 kilometers, the network has now grown to over 73,000 kilometers, according to the Roads General Authority. This impressive achievement has firmly established Saudi Arabia as a leader in road connectivity, as acknowledged by the Global Competitiveness Forum.
