Riyadh, April 4, 2025 – Saudi Arabia's tourism sector recorded a historic surplus in the 2024 travel account, reaching SAR 49.8 billion, marking a 7.8% increase from 2023, according to a press release from the Tourism Ministry.

The release stated that this growth was driven by a 13.8% rise in spending by inbound visitors compared to 2023, totaling an estimated SAR 153.6 billion in 2024, based on preliminary balance of payments data from the Saudi Central Bank.

The ministry credited the significant increase in the 2024 travel account surplus to collaborative efforts within the Saudi tourism sector, aimed at strengthening the industry and its role in national economic growth. "This achievement also reflects the successful application of best practices in tourism development, improved services and products, and strong government collaboration, all contributing to the goals of Saudi Vision 2030," the release noted.
