Jeddah, January 18, 2024, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has formally applied to host the 15th Session of the General Conference of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) in 2025, as announced by the General Secretariat of the National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science. The General Conference serves as the highest legislative body within the organization. In conjunction with this bid, the Kingdom has pledged to offer 200 scholarships to exceptional students from Islamic nations, starting from the upcoming academic year.
This announcement unfolded during the 44th Session of the ICESCO Executive Council, a meeting hosted by the Kingdom and represented by the National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science. The gathering concluded its deliberations recently in the Jeddah Governorate. The success in securing the Executive Council's activities in the Kingdom is attributed to the concerted efforts of the National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, bolstered by the support of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and HRH the Crown Prince.
Notably, Minister of Culture, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, played a pivotal role in steering and overseeing the Kingdom's influential participation in global events and its leadership in advancing scientific development within the Arab and Islamic world. In the course of the Executive Council's proceedings, the National Committee for Education, Culture, and Science inked a significant agreement with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization concerning the "Executive Program for the Hajj Routes to Makkah and Historical Mosques." This collaborative effort signifies the Kingdom's commitment to the preservation and enhancement of historical and cultural heritage within the framework of international cooperation.
