Riyadh, October 12, 2023, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has achieved a remarkable milestone in agriculture by securing a Guinness World Record for the world's largest farm, courtesy of one of the extension farms within the Bin Heshbal Valley's water farming research unit in the Asir Region.
During a ceremony organized by the Saudi Reef Program at its headquarters in Riyadh, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadhli, was presented with the Guinness World Records certificate. The event was attended by a distinguished gathering, including Vice Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, Eng. Mansour bin Hilal Al-Mushaiti, Secretary-General of the Reef Program, Ghassan Bakri, and other ministry officials.
Spanning an impressive total area of 3,204,182 square meters, this vast farm is divided into two sections, each equipped with 500-cubic-meter concrete tanks and an automated irrigation system that caters to all the crops. Additionally, the farm features five air-conditioned shelters and various other buildings.
For crop irrigation, the farm relies on treated water, with experts and specialists overseeing the entire process, from irrigation and fertilization to equipment maintenance. This meticulous approach extends to the management of 50 fruit tree fields and plans for the cultivation of an additional 20 fields in the future.
Notably, the farm boasts a section dedicated to clover cultivation and production, as well as the cultivation of a diverse range of crops and fruits, including lemons, oranges, tangerines, pomegranates, grapes, figs, almonds, olives, and experimental fields dedicated to a variety of crops.
