On September 18, 2024, Saudi Arabia participated in the Global Fishery Forum and Seafood Expo 2024, taking place in the Russian Federation from September 17 to 19. The event saw participation from various government and private sector entities. Dr. Ali Al-Shaikhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture for Fisheries and Livestock Wealth, highlighted that Saudi Arabia's representation included the National Program for the Development of the Fisheries Sector, the Saudi Exports Development Authority, the Agricultural Development Fund, and King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST).
Dr. Al-Shaikhi emphasized that the goal of Saudi Arabia's participation was to assist private sector companies in marketing fishery products in key global markets and to explore new opportunities, such as entering the Russian market. This initiative aims to facilitate the export of Saudi farmed fish products to more than five countries within the Russian Federation. He also mentioned that the National Program for the Development of the Livestock and Fisheries Sector is dedicated to promoting investment opportunities and showcasing the Kingdom's commitment to advancing the aquaculture and seafood industries.
During the forum, meetings were held with major investors and relevant government agencies from Russia to strengthen investment opportunities and enhance trade relations between the two nations.
