March 27, 2025 – Saudi Arabia has strongly condemned an Israeli airstrike on Syria, calling it a “blatant violation of international law” and urging the United Nations Security Council to intervene, the Saudi Press Agency reported on Tuesday.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs denounced the attack as part of repeated Israeli actions that threaten regional stability and security.
According to SPA, Riyadh called for an international response to prevent further escalation and ensure accountability.
The condemnation followed reports from Syrian security sources that Israeli jets targeted military positions in the villages of Shinshar and Shamsin, south of Homs.
The Israeli military has not commented on the latest strikes but has previously stated that its operations target military sites housing weapons and equipment.
Recent Israeli airstrikes in Syria have intensified, with a strike in Daraa province killing at least two people and injuring 19, according to local reports. Israel has long carried out such attacks, citing threats from Iran-backed groups operating in Syria.
Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its support for the Syrian government and people, urging the UN Security Council to take a “firm and serious” stance against Israeli aggression.
The Kingdom also stressed the need to prevent further conflict escalation and called for mechanisms to hold Israel accountable for its actions.
