Abuja, March 8, 2025 – The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah, and Guidance has officially launched the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ annual programs for the distribution of dates and iftar meals in Nigeria during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to supporting Muslim communities worldwide and promoting the values of generosity and solidarity during the sacred month.
The launch ceremony took place in Abuja and was attended by Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria Faisal Al-Ghamdi, along with several Nigerian officials and representatives from various Islamic associations and institutions. The event underscored the strong ties between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria, particularly in the fields of religious and humanitarian cooperation.
As part of the initiative, fifteen tons of high-quality dates will be distributed to 60,000 individuals across different regions of Nigeria. Additionally, iftar meals will be provided at 36 centers throughout the country, benefiting 40,000 people. These efforts aim to support fasting individuals and ensure that essential food assistance reaches those in need during Ramadan.
The programs launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques each year are part of broader humanitarian initiatives undertaken by Saudi Arabia in numerous countries. Through these efforts, the Kingdom continues to extend its support to Muslim communities, reinforcing the values of compassion, unity, and charitable giving that define the holy month of Ramadan.
