Riyadh, October 12, 2024 – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is set to host the 35th session of the Council of Arab Ministers Responsible for the Environment, scheduled to take place from October 13 to 17, 2024, in Jeddah. Organized by the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture in collaboration with the Arab League, the event will gather Arab ministers and representatives from international organizations to discuss pressing environmental issues.

The five-day event will commence with the 25th meeting of the Technical Committee of the council, running from October 13 to 15. This will be followed by the 60th meeting of the Executive Office on October 16, setting the stage for high-level discussions during the main session of the council.

The 35th session will feature a comprehensive agenda focused on addressing key environmental challenges across the Arab world. Central topics will include discussions on nature-based solutions for environmental issues, progress on implementing decisions from previous sessions, and furthering international environmental agreements. The session will also explore Arab cooperation on tackling desertification, preserving biodiversity, and addressing climate change concerns. Additionally, the council will consider collaboration with the G20 Global Land Initiative, review progress on the Middle East Green Initiative, and plan Arab participation in the upcoming COP16 conference in Riyadh.

The event’s agenda reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to advancing joint Arab action on environmental protection, both regionally and internationally. The Kingdom’s leadership in hosting these meetings underscores its dedication to promoting sustainable environmental practices and addressing global challenges through multilateral cooperation.
