Riyadh, November 19, 2024 – Saudi Arabia's General Directorate of Civil Defense has officially received the flag of the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers, signaling the Kingdom’s role as the host nation for the 2025 Fire and Rescue World Championship. The prestigious event will be held in Riyadh in collaboration with the Ministry of Sport, marking a significant milestone as Saudi Arabia takes over hosting duties from the People’s Republic of China, which successfully organized the championship in 2024.
The ceremonial handover of the federation’s flag took place in the presence of Director General of Civil Defense, Major General Dr. Hamoud bin Sulaiman Al-Faraj, alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Sport. The event highlighted Saudi Arabia's readiness to host this international championship, underscoring its commitment to fostering global partnerships and promoting specialized sports competitions.
Established in 2001, the International Sport Federation of Firefighters and Rescuers is comprised of 32 member countries and has organized over 15 world championships to date. The competition features a variety of challenging events designed to test the physical endurance and professional skills of participants, including tower climbing, 400-meter relays, 100-meter sprints, and firefighting drills.
Hosting the 2025 championship aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader vision to support international sporting events and strengthen the nation’s role as a hub for global athletic excellence. The event is expected to attract top firefighters and rescuers from around the world, providing an opportunity to showcase their expertise and build camaraderie among the international firefighting community.
