London, April 13, 2025, Saudi Arabia will participate in the London Design Biennale 2025 with a national pavilion titled Good Water. The event will take place at Somerset House from June 5 to 29.
The Architecture and Design Commission, operating under the Ministry of Culture, will represent the Kingdom at this year’s biennale.
The pavilion will be curated by a team of designers with expertise in architecture, design, and the arts, who will present an exhibition that interrogates, challenges, and reimagines systems of water access and distribution, as well as humanity’s relationship with this essential resource.
The concept of Good Water aligns with the biennale’s 2025 theme, Surface Reflections, which explores how ideas are shaped through the interplay of internal experiences, external influences, and personal histories.
The Saudi pavilion centers on the sabeel—a traditional free drinking water fountain—symbolizing the deeply rooted value of hospitality in Saudi culture. These fountains are found throughout the Kingdom, offering water to passersby and embodying the ethics of generosity and kindness.
Saudi Arabia’s return to the London Design Biennale through this pioneering initiative reaffirms the Kingdom’s commitment to active participation in global design discourse and to promoting sustainable, innovative solutions through cultural engagement.
