HANGZHOU — The Saudi Arabian U-23 national football team's 19th Asian Games campaign began with a scoreless stalemate against Iran.
Tuesday's encounter was played at the Linping Sports Center in Hangzhou, China, as part of the opening round of Group B matches.
This scoreless draw is identical to the previous match between these two countries at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia. In both instances, the group stage result was a tie.
Both the Saudi Arabian and Iranian teams earned a single point as a result of this most recent draw, positioning them in second and third place, respectively, in the group standings.
Vietnam, who presently leads the group with 3 points after a convincing 4-2 victory over Mongolia, is in front of them.
In Group B's impending second round matches, the Saudi U-23 national team will face Mongolia, while the Iranian national team will face Vietnam. Both matches will take place on Thursday.
