Saudi Arabia Underlines the Importance of Achieving World Health and Wellbeing

- The Kingdom is hosting the fourth Global High-level Ministerial Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance and is taking action to address the threat that antimicrobial resistance poses. The Kingdom is also concerned about the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza and Israel's border violations, as well as the decline in the quality of healthcare services over time.

In order to address upcoming health issues, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is dedicated to the objective of "Health for All" and is trying to revise international health laws, negotiate a pandemic treaty, and enhance international cooperation.


The Kingdom is taking steps to address the issue that antimicrobial resistance poses, including holding the fourth Global High-level Ministerial Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance. The humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Israel's border transgressions, and the deteriorating quality of healthcare over time are some issues that the Kingdom is worried about.


Minister of Health Fahd bin Abdurrahman Al-Jalajel led Saudi Arabia's delegation to the 77th World Health Assembly, emphasizing the value of global collaboration and initiatives to solve upcoming health concerns. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is committed to the goal of "Health for All" and is working to update global health legislation, negotiate a pandemic treaty, and strengthen international collaboration in order to handle impending health crises. The fourth Global High-level Ministerial Meeting on Antimicrobial Resistance is one of the actions the Kingdom is taking to address the problem that antimicrobial resistance brings. The Kingdom's concerns include the humanitarian situation in Gaza, Israel's border violations, and the progressive decline in healthcare standards.


The high-level Saudi delegation was led by Minister of Health Fahd bin Abdurrahman Al-Jalajel in the inauguration of the World Health Organization's 77th World Health Assembly in Geneva, UN headquarters, on May 29, 2024. In the speech of the Kingdom, the minister underscored that there is a need for action and the promotion of international cooperation.


The Kingdom did that to handle any difficulty the future may bring on health issues, all with the view of implementing the ultimate objective of \"Health for All\" and increasing the well-being of people everywhere. This Kingdom stressed the severity of the situation and the need for long-term fixes to cover the gaps in the response and preparation of the world for pandemics. The Kingdom proved its commitment to the objective "Health for All" by stressing that efforts go toward amending international health legislation, negotiating a pandemic treaty, and increasing the levels of international work and cooperation to face all future health concerns.


The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also placed emphasis on the urgent need to confront the threat of antibiotic resistance, besides hosting the fourth Global High-level Ministerial Meeting on Antibiotic Resistance, AMR, in the city of Jeddah, on November 15 and 16. The UN's statement on this topic is eagerly awaited by the Kingdom. The Kingdom has also highlighted Israel's grave border violations and the eight-month-long humanitarian crisis in Gaza. There are around 40,000 victims in all, most of whom are women, elderly people, and children. Furthermore, the Kingdom's address indicates a discernible decline in the quality of medical care over time.
