Riyadh, December 26, 2024 – The General Assembly of the Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) has unanimously approved the nomination of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by the General Court of Audit (GCA), to assume the chairmanship of ARABOSAI for the 2025–2028 term. In addition to this prestigious role, Saudi Arabia will also host the 15th General Assembly of ARABOSAI, scheduled to take place in late 2025.
This significant achievement marks a historic milestone for Saudi Arabia, as the GCA becomes the first member of ARABOSAI to secure the chairmanship for two consecutive terms, spanning from 2022 to 2028. Since the founding of ARABOSAI in 1976, no other member has held this honor. In a press statement released today, Dr. Hussam Alangari, President of the GCA, underscored that this accomplishment reflects the strong and unwavering support of Saudi Arabia’s wise leadership. It further highlights the country’s esteemed position on both regional and international platforms, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s pivotal role in the global audit landscape.
Dr. Alangari also emphasized that the GCA’s leadership extends far beyond ARABOSAI, with the institution playing a crucial role in various global auditing bodies. Currently, the GCA serves as the Second Vice Chair of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (INTOSAI), where it chairs several important committees. In 2027, the GCA is set to assume the chairmanship of the Asian Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ASOSAI), further cementing its leadership in the international auditing community.
The Arab Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions (ARABOSAI) was established with the aim of fostering enhanced cooperation and collaboration among the supreme audit institutions of Arab member states. It acts as a vital bridge between these institutions and other global organizations, such as INTOSAI. One of the core missions of ARABOSAI is to promote best practices in auditing across the Arab world, focusing on improving efficiency, effectiveness, and the optimal utilization of resources.
