The International Fertilizer Association (IFA) Annual Conference 2023 in Prague, Czech Republic, has come to an end for the Saudi Arabian Mining Company (Ma'aden). The conference, "Where Food and Energy Markets Meet," brought together stakeholders from throughout the global agriculture value chain to discuss concerns and difficulties facing the industry as well as the impact of the fertilizer sector on other global businesses. It was held from May 22 to 24, with the topic "Where Food and Energy Markets Meet."
Ma'aden, the second-largest supplier of phosphate fertilizer, contributes significantly to global food security by offering high-quality fertilizers and forming alliances with key players in the most vital markets. With ambitions to grow its phosphate fertilizer production by 50% through the company's Phosphates 3 mega project, Ma'aden has created a robust and resilient phosphate fertilizer production business over the past ten years.
Along with Jeanne Johns, CEO of Incitec Pivot, and Alexander Schmitt, CMO of Anglo American, Robert Wilt, CEO of Ma'aden and a member of the IFA Board, spoke during the conference's keynote session about ways to address global food security concerns while pursuing sustainability objectives. "Food security depends on the fertilizer industry's capacity to meet the demands of a growing population, but we must cooperate to improve fertilizer production efficiency while lowering the amount of energy used," he said. To assist us in creating a sustainable future for agriculture around the world, Ma'aden continues to place a strong emphasis on establishing cooperative partnerships in the agricultural value chain.
"For this reason, we collaborate with our partners to develop methods and frameworks that will improve agricultural inputs utilized in field campaigns and R&D projects. With ambitions to expand our production and supply to important locations, we are heavily investing in developing a resilient fertilizer business, which means we are a bigger contributor to food security in these areas. We are changing the way we do business to make it more adaptable to shifting regional and consumer demands and to produce higher-quality products that will help us achieve our long-term growth goals.
Ma'aden's booth at the IFA Conference 2023 highlighted the organization's dedication to decarbonizing its operations and value chain in order to fulfill its objective of becoming net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The booth attracted guests and visitors who were curious about Ma'aden's high-quality goods, operations, and production facilities by displaying samples of its fertilizers.
One of the largest phosphate production complexes in the world, Ma'aden's Wa'ad Al Shamal Fertilizer Production Complex in Wa'ad Al Shamal Minerals Industrial City in the Northern Province of Saudi Arabia, contains seven top-notch plants and supporting infrastructure. In Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, in Ras Al Khair Industrial City, where Wa'ad Al Shamal is connected via the North-South Railway, complementary plants were constructed.
