RIYADH — The national side will participate in a training camp in Newcastle that will include two friendlies against South Korea and Costa Rica, according to a statement from the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) on Wednesday.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation said in a statement on its official website that "the national team will hold a preparatory camp in Newcastle during the FIFA international days of September."

This action is part of the second stage of planning for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, which will be held in Qatar in January.

The federation also stated that during the camp, which will take place from September 3 to 12, the Saudi squad, also known as the Green Falcons, would play two friendly matches.

On September 8, Costa Rica will be the opponent in the first friendly, and on September 12, South Korea will be the opponent in the second friendly. Both games will take place at Newcastle United Football Club's home stadium, St. James' Park.

The Saudi national team will compete in the forthcoming AFC Asian Cup 2023 in Group F together with Thailand, Oman, and Kyrgyzstan.

The team will get significant practice and experience as they prepare for the continental event from the pre-tournament camp and the friendly games against talented opponents.
