Saudi Arabian Scout Association Concludes Participation in 43rd World Scout Conference in Egypt


The Saudi Arabian Scout Association concluded its participation in the 43rd World Scout Conference in Cairo, which saw over 2,000 participants from 176 countries.


Dr. Abdulrahman Almedaires praised the support from Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan and others, highlighting the positive impact of the Saudi delegation’s presence on the Kingdom’s global image.


The conference featured leadership transitions, with Daniël Corsen outlining his vision for the future of Scouting, and awards were presented, including the Growth Award and the Bronze Wolf Award, with Scouts UK set to host the next conference in 2027.


Cairo, August 25, 2024 — The Saudi Arabian Scout Association has concluded its participation in the 43rd World Scout Conference, which took place in Cairo from August 17 to 23, 2024. This prestigious event brought together over 2,000 participants from 176 countries, reflecting a remarkable global collaboration within the Scouting community.


Dr. Abdulrahman Almedaires, the head of the Saudi delegation and Director General of the National Center for Assessment, expressed deep appreciation to Yousef bin Abdullah Al-Benyan, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Scout Association. Dr. Almedaires acknowledged Al-Benyan’s steadfast support and active involvement, which greatly contributed to the delegation's impactful presence at the conference. He also extended his thanks to the various scouting sectors and the Executive Office of the Association for their collective efforts, which significantly enhanced the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's representation and image on the global stage.


The final day of the conference was marked by a series of ceremonial activities. Andy Chapman, Chairman of the World Scout Committee, along with the outgoing members and youth advisors, were honored for their dedicated service. The leadership transition was symbolized by the presentation of the Purple World Scout Scarves to the newly elected members of the World Scout Committee.


Daniël Corsen, the newly elected Chairman of the World Scout Committee for the 2024–2027 term, delivered an inspiring speech outlining his vision for the future of Scouting. Corsen emphasized the importance of making Scouting safer, supporting youth-led climate initiatives, fostering growth, and expanding partnerships to enhance the global impact of the Movement. He assured that the decisions made at this conference would be translated into actionable results, benefiting National Scout Organizations and youth worldwide.


As the conference came to a close, the World Scout Flag was ceremoniously handed over to Scouts UK, who will host the 44th World Scout Conference in 2027. Several Scout Associations were honored with prestigious awards, including the Growth Award for exceptional efforts in expanding membership and reaching new communities. Other notable honors included the first Intergenerational Leadership Award, the Centenary Diploma, and the Bronze Wolf Award, recognizing distinguished individuals for their significant contributions.


The Saudi Arabian Scout Association’s participation in this global event underscored its commitment to the Scouting Movement and its dedication to promoting leadership and community engagement among youth in the Kingdom.
