Saudi Aramco Team Wins 23 Medals at World Firefighters Games in Denmark

Saudi Aramco’s firefighting team won 23 medals (6 gold, 9 silver, 8 bronze) at the World Firefighter Games in Aalborg, Denmark, excelling in challenging events such as hose pulls, obstacle courses, and tower climbs.

Dhahran, October 10, 2024 – Saudi Aramco proudly announced today that its firefighting team achieved outstanding success at the World Firefighter Games held in Aalborg, Denmark, earning a total of 23 medals across various challenging events. The team, consisting of 20 members, secured an impressive 6 gold, 9 silver, and 8 bronze medals, further solidifying Aramco's reputation for excellence in both safety and performance.


The World Firefighter Games, which are held biennially, test the physical fitness, endurance, and skills of firefighters from around the globe through a series of rigorous competitions. Aramco's team participated in 24 of the 50 challenges, demonstrating exceptional prowess while competing in physically demanding events designed to push them to their limits. The competitions included hose pulls, obstacle courses, and climbing a 15-story tower while wearing full firefighting gear, among other grueling tests of strength and agility. The team surpassed its previous records, setting new personal bests in a number of events, and improved upon their achievements from the 2022 competition.


In addition to the physically demanding firefighter-related challenges, the Aramco team also took part in a wide range of sporting events that tested their overall athletic abilities. These included the stair climb, a 10-kilometer race, javelin throw, shot put, triple jump, 400-meter relay, volleyball, soccer, hammer throw, and arm wrestling. The team’s participation in such a diverse array of events showcases their versatility and commitment to excellence, both on and off the field.


Saudi Aramco also made an exciting announcement during the event, revealing that it will host the 16th edition of the World Firefighter Games in 2026. The competition will be held in Dammam, Saudi Arabia, providing a platform for international firefighters to gather and compete in a region renowned for its robust energy sector and safety standards. Hosting this prestigious event will highlight Saudi Arabia's growing global presence in various sectors, including firefighting and emergency services.
