RIYADH, March 31, 2025 — The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing announced the precautionary closure of two food factories and multiple branches of a food company following reports of suspected food poisoning cases.
In a statement on Sunday, the ministry explained that its field teams, in coordination with municipal offices in various regions, swiftly responded to the alerts and began official procedures to protect public health.
Most of the individuals affected by the suspected poisoning have recovered, while the remaining cases are in stable condition and receiving appropriate medical care, according to the ministry.
In collaboration with the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), authorities launched an investigation into the incidents, taking necessary actions including temporarily closing the company’s manufacturing plants and retail outlets.
The closures will remain in place until verification and testing processes are completed.
The ministry emphasized that consumer health and safety are its top priority and that it will continue to take all necessary measures — in coordination with relevant authorities — to ensure the safety of food products available to the public.
It also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information and to rely on official channels for updates on the situation.
