Saudi-Bahrain Coordination Council meets under Crown Princes' chairmanship

Riyadh, February 8, 2024, The third assembly of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council was convened under the esteemed chairmanship of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, alongside His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Reflecting the enduring and fraternal ties between the two nations and their peoples, the meeting aimed at fortifying bilateral relations. In attendance were numerous Royal Highnesses, Excellencies, Distinguished Members, and heads of council subcommittees.

At the outset, HRH the Crown Prince warmly welcomed the Crown Prince of Bahrain, lauding the profound historical bonds uniting their kingdoms and peoples. He expressed his earnest desire to further the vision of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, towards Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) unity, envisaging stability and prosperity for their populations.

Emphasizing the pivotal role of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council and its subcommittees across various realms of cooperation, HRH the Crown Prince stressed the mutual benefits accruing to citizens of both nations and the realization of their leaderships' aspirations.

In response, the Crown Prince of Bahrain underscored the exceptional caliber of relations and the deeply ingrained fraternal bonds shared between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. He emphasized the significance of such meetings in bolstering strategic partnerships and advancing integration.

Prince Salman heralded these discussions as instrumental in charting new avenues for cooperation aimed at fostering prosperity and development for both nations. He lauded the unwavering attention afforded to bilateral relations by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and King Hamad bin Issa Al Khalifa of Bahrain.

Prince Salman commended HRH the Saudi Crown Prince for his steadfast support of initiatives aimed at enhancing integration and development, highlighting ongoing endeavors of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council committees in realizing shared aspirations and visions.

During the session, the council announced the inauguration of the inaugural office of the Saudi-Bahraini Company, established in November 2022 through collaboration between the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and Bahrain's Sovereign Wealth Fund (Mumtalakat), with an investment totaling $5 billion.

Further announcements included the completion of construction for the King Abdullah Medical City Hospital in Bahrain, slated to commence operations in the second quarter of 2024. Additionally, various projects were unveiled, spanning training opportunities, hosting private-sector institutions focused on artificial intelligence (AI), networking, electronic connectivity, data sharing, healthcare sector partnerships, and product handling in both nations.

The meeting witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding (MoUs) across diverse domains encompassing energy, economy, finance and capital markets, legal affairs, culture, education, administrative development, health, television, radio, and news.

Concluding on a forward-looking note, it was mutually agreed to convene the fourth assembly of the Saudi-Bahraini Coordination Council in Bahrain, with the date to be determined by both parties through the Council's General Secretariat.
