Riyadh, November 21, 2023, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, chaired the Cabinet session in Riyadh, where various national and international topics were addressed.
The Cabinet was briefed on recent talks held by Saudi officials with representatives from several countries. Additionally, the session acknowledged the message received by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister from the President of the Republic of Kenya.
Particular emphasis was placed on commending the positive outcomes of the SAUDI-CARICOM Summit. The Cabinet recognized the summit's significance in strengthening relations between participating countries, fostering multilateral and bilateral cooperation, and addressing issues such as climate change, environmental preservation, and support for sustainable clean energy initiatives.
The Cabinet underscored the Kingdom's esteemed global status and recognition, evident through the summits hosted in Saudi Arabia throughout the year. These gatherings highlight the nation's commitment to enhancing international relationships, promoting security, stability, and prosperity in the region and globally.
Regarding regional developments, the Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom's call for an immediate cessation of fire in Gaza, emphasizing the need to hold accountable those responsible for violations and inhumane acts against unarmed civilians, healthcare facilities, and relief teams.
The Cabinet celebrated Saudi Arabia's re-election as a member of UNESCO's Executive Council for the 2023-2027 term, recognizing it as acknowledgment of the Kingdom's efforts in international cooperation and pursuit of strategic goals.
In terms of the national economy, the Cabinet reviewed developments, noting a sustained slowdown in inflation for the fifth consecutive month. This trend reflects the resilience of the Saudi economy and the effectiveness of measures taken to address global inflation.
The discovery of new natural gas reserves in the Eastern Region and the Empty Quarter by Saudi Arabian Oil Group (Aramco) was applauded. The Cabinet highlighted the significance of these discoveries in enhancing resource reserves and consolidating Saudi Arabia's leading position in the international energy sector.
The session concluded with the approval of several decisions, including authorizations for energy-related talks with Vietnam and the Czech Republic, a memorandum of understanding with the OPEC Fund for International Development, cooperation agreements with Pakistan, and the establishment of coordination councils with Georgia. Additionally, memoranda of understanding for cooperation with Qatar and Bahrain in the fields of culture and tourism were approved, along with agreements related to trade, education, and communication technology.
