Riyadh, December 10, 2023, The Saudi Energy Efficiency Center (SEEC) is spearheading a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's energy-intensive industrial sector, encompassing 246 production lines dedicated to petrochemicals, cement, steel, and aluminum.
SEEC's concerted efforts have yielded significant advancements in the level of energy intensity (EI) within consumption-intensive industries, as evidenced by data spanning the years 2011 to 2019. Notably, the petrochemical and cement sectors have experienced a commendable 2.8% reduction in energy consumption intensity, coupled with a 4.2% decrease in clinker production within the cement sector and a 2% improvement in the iron sector.
The center's overarching goal is to achieve a substantial reduction in carbon emissions by the year 2025, aligning with the Kingdom's broader commitment to addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
