Riyadh, August 06, 2023, The Saudi Chess Club, registered on the Hawi portal, recently organized the exciting Makkah Chess Championship! This incredible event brought together 100 talented international players and was proudly sponsored by the Saudi and Asian Chess Federations. The tournament was successfully hosted by Umm Al-Qura University in the beautiful city of Makkah.
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Chess Federation and CEO of the Asian Chess Federation, Abdullah bin Salem Al-Wahshi, had the incredible opportunity to crown the top three winners. Egyptian player Sameh Sadeq achieved a well-deserved first place, with Saudi player Ahmed Al-Harthi closely following in second place. Additionally, Egyptian player Abdulrahim Jamal proudly secured third place.
The Makkah Chess Championship is an exciting part of a series of events organized by passionate amateur clubs, represented by the Saudi Chess Club. These events are wonderfully supervised by the National Portal for Hobbies (Hawi) with the exciting goal of developing the hobby sector, a vital aspect of Saudi Vision 2030. This initiative is set to make a positive impact by supporting amateur clubs in the region. It is a collaborative effort between the Saudi and Asian Chess Federations, as well as the host, Umm Al-Qura University.
