Paris, October 10, 2023, The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by its permanent delegation to UNESCO, is actively participating in the 217th session of the UNESCO Executive Council. The event commenced in Paris at UNESCO's headquarters and is scheduled to run until the 18th of this month.
Saudi Arabia's delegation comprises the National Commission for Education, Culture, and Science, along with various national bodies. The delegation is led by Saudi Ambassador to France, Fahd Al-Ruwaili, who delivered the Kingdom's address in the presence of high-level representatives from the Council's 58 member states, the Chairman of the Executive Council of UNESCO, the President of the General Conference of UNESCO, and the Director-General of UNESCO.
Ambassador Al-Ruwaili highlighted the outcomes of the extensive 45th session of the World Heritage Committee, hosted by Riyadh from September 10 to 25 the previous year. He underscored the Kingdom's capacity to host such significant gatherings, noting the participation of nearly 3,000 delegations from UNESCO member states, observers, advisory committees, and UNESCO personnel.
Furthermore, he presented Saudi Arabia's bid to host the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT) in 2025, emphasizing the Kingdom's willingness to collaborate with all stakeholders to achieve this goal.
