Saudi delegation, led by Minister Al-Swaha, meets with international and UN counterparts

Riyadh, October 11, 2023, A Saudi delegation, led by Minister of Communications and Information Technology Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, has engaged in a series of meetings with international counterparts and UN officials. These discussions aim to explore new avenues of collaboration in the realms of the digital economy, space industry development, and the promotion of digital entrepreneurship.


During these interactions, Minister Al-Swaha held discussions with the Japanese Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications, Junji Suzuki, and the Japanese Minister for Digital Transformation, Kono Taro. The talks centered on strategies to catalyze the digital economy's expansion, enhance digital capabilities, foster technological investments, and advance digital government initiatives. Furthermore, a meeting with the UK Minister of State for Data and Digital Infrastructure, Sir John Whittingdale, delved into opportunities for strengthening partnerships between the two nations in the domains of digital economy growth, innovation, and research and development.


Separately, Minister Al-Swaha convened meetings with the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin, and the Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs, Li Junhua. These discussions revolved around the potential for broadening effective partnerships and building upon existing initiatives to support the growth of the region's digital economy. These engagements underscore Saudi Arabia's commitment to fostering global collaboration and innovation in the digital and technological spheres.
