Baku, November 15, 2024: A distinguished delegation from the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), led by Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Energy, is actively participating in the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku, Azerbaijan. The conference, which runs until November 22, brings together global leaders, policymakers, and stakeholders to discuss climate change solutions, sustainability, and the path toward achieving the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
SDRPY’s participation at COP29 highlights the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing commitment to Yemen’s development and reconstruction, particularly in the context of sustainable growth and environmental responsibility. The program’s involvement emphasizes its key role in forging strong partnerships with over 40 local, regional, and global entities. These collaborations are central to SDRPY’s mission to address Yemen’s urgent developmental needs, with a focus on creating long-term solutions that ensure social, economic, and environmental sustainability.
A cornerstone of SDRPY’s work is its focus on providing clean and sustainable energy solutions across Yemen. By promoting renewable energy sources and striving to reduce carbon emissions, the program is making significant strides in the fight against climate change. This includes integrating sustainable energy into essential infrastructure projects, which not only supports Yemen’s development but also helps to create a cleaner, more sustainable future for the region.
Through these efforts, SDRPY is enhancing the quality of life for the people of Yemen while contributing to the global movement for climate action. By aligning its initiatives with the SDGs, the program underscores its commitment to building resilience in Yemen, improving living conditions, and promoting sustainable, inclusive growth. The Kingdom’s participation at COP29 serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of collective global action to address both environmental and developmental challenges.
