Al-Mahra, September 18, 2024, The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) on Tuesday launched a project to support emergency and critical medical services in Al-Mahra by delivering four ambulances to enhance the capabilities of hospitals and health centers in the governorate.
The event was attended by Al-Mahra Governor Mohammed Ali Yasser, SDRPY Al-Mahra Office Director Abdullah Basulaiman, Al-Mahra Local Council Secretary-General Salem Nimer, and Al-Mahra Public Health and Population Office Director-General Awad Mubarak Saad.
The launch is part of SDRPY’s support for the health sector in Yemen through developmental projects and initiatives.
These efforts have enhanced the sector's capabilities and improved medical services for beneficiaries by establishing, equipping, rehabilitating, and operating hospitals and health centers.
These efforts also included the creation and equipping of specialized centers, such as heart centers, dialysis centers, cancer treatment centers, maternal and child health centers, as well as operating rooms and intensive care units. Moreover, this comes in addition to projects and initiatives aimed at addressing emergency and critical medical cases.
SDRPY has implemented developmental projects and initiatives in Al-Mahra Governorate, including the establishment of the King Salman Medical and Educational City on an area of 1 million square meters.
This project includes the construction of a hospital with a capacity of 110 beds, fully equipped with advanced medical devices and equipment. The hospital features outpatient clinics, a fully equipped radiology department, a laboratory for all medical tests, an endoscopy unit, as well as emergency and intensive care departments for adults and children, and a maternity ward. The city will play a vital role in supporting key sectors in Yemen and, once completed, will contribute to improving the quality of medical services and educational outcomes.
