Saudi-Djiboutian Joint Committee Convenes for Sixth Session in Riyadh

The session concluded with the signing of the final minutes and an exchange of commemorative gifts, reaffirming both countries' commitment to expanding strategic partnerships and achieving shared developmental aspirations.
Saudi Arabia and Djibouti held the sixth session of their joint committee in Riyadh, co-chaired by Minister Saleh Al-Jasser and Minister Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, focusing on strengthening trade, investment, and mutual cooperation.

Riyadh, November 19, 2024 – Saudi Arabia and Djibouti convened the sixth session of their joint committee in Riyadh on Monday, reaffirming their commitment to deepening fraternal ties and fostering mutual cooperation. The meeting was co-chaired by Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services Saleh Al-Jasser and Djiboutian Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, who emphasized the strong foundation of their nations’ partnership and the shared vision for future collaboration.


In his opening remarks, Al-Jasser underscored that the meeting symbolized the robust and evolving relationship between the two countries, which has been marked by efforts to strengthen trade and investment across key sectors. Highlighting the strategic importance of these ties, he pointed to the substantial growth in trade volumes, which reached approximately 7 billion Saudi Riyals in 2023, reflecting the deepening economic and logistical cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Djibouti.


Al-Jasser emphasized that this trade growth is a vital pillar in the broader framework of Saudi-Djiboutian cooperation, aligning with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. The vision aims to establish a diversified and sustainable economy, develop promising industries, and attract global investments while promoting opportunities for entrepreneurs. He also highlighted the Kingdom's successful public-private partnerships, which are crucial for achieving its developmental goals and increasing the contributions of non-oil sectors to the economy.


The minister noted that the outcomes of previous committee sessions have laid a solid foundation for enhanced bilateral relations, paving the way for a strategic partnership that serves the mutual interests of both nations. He expressed Saudi Arabia’s unwavering commitment to fostering stronger ties with Djibouti, which will contribute to achieving shared aspirations and supporting comprehensive development in various fields.


The session concluded with the signing of the committee's final minutes, symbolizing the successful culmination of discussions. Both sides also exchanged commemorative gifts, reflecting the cordial and cooperative spirit of the meeting. This renewed commitment to collaboration underscores the shared determination of Saudi Arabia and Djibouti to build on their existing partnership and explore new avenues for growth and development.
