Riyadh, April 29, 2024, The Saudi documentary film "Horizon" has achieved a remarkable feat by winning the esteemed Platinum Hermes International Creative Award for 2024 in the Strategic Campaigns Category. Despite facing stiff competition from various renowned international works, "Horizon" stood out for its exceptional storytelling and impactful message.
Produced under the Konoz Initiative, a project of the Government Communication Center within the Ministry of Media in collaboration with the National Centre for Wildlife (NCW), the film takes viewers on a captivating journey through Saudi Arabia's rich biodiversity. From the majestic dugong (sea cow) to the elusive Arabian leopard, the film showcases over 10,000 species uniquely adapted to their environments, highlighting the Kingdom's remarkable natural heritage.
The documentary's production was a monumental undertaking, spanning over 200 days of filming across 28 locations, with a dedicated crew of 50 and the involvement of 13 Saudi wildlife experts. This effort underscores the commitment to excellence and attention to detail in capturing the Kingdom's treasures.
The Konoz initiative, aligned with Vision 2030's Human Capability Development Program, aims to revolutionize film production by visually documenting Saudi Arabia's diverse landscapes and wildlife. Through projects like "Horizon" and others such as "A Difficult Stage," "Nawras Al-Arab (Arabian Gull)," and "Saudi Atlas," the initiative seeks to raise global awareness of the Kingdom's environmental diversity and conservation efforts.
