Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee 18th session concludes in Riyadh

Riyadh, March 04, 2024, The 18th meeting of the Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee wrapped up today in Riyadh, under the co-chairmanship of Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, alongside Ahmed Samir, Egyptian Minister of Industry and Trade.

Throughout the session, Dr. Al-Qasabi emphasized Saudi Arabia's dedication to fortifying trade ties with the Arab Republic of Egypt. Strategies discussed included facilitating reciprocal visits between private sectors and organizing trade expos to foster opportunities and boost Saudi exports to Egypt.

As proceedings concluded, the Minister of Commerce endorsed the minutes of the inaugural meeting of the working group tasked with tracking the implementation of recommendations stemming from the session. These recommendations are instrumental in reinforcing collaborative efforts between the Kingdom and Egypt.

Trade volume between the two nations reached approximately $11.8 billion by November 2023, with metal products, plastics, and their derivatives emerging as the primary exports to Egypt. Notably, metal products and fruits were the leading imports.

The 18th session of the Saudi-Egyptian Joint Committee is aligned with the strategic visions of both countries, focusing on tackling challenges through periodic meetings with relevant stakeholders. These gatherings monitor the execution of recommendations and supervise the committee's ongoing initiatives.
